Rafael dos Anjos came out winner of UFC 272 last Saturday (5) in the fight against Renato Moicano, after dominating five rounds with intensity and aggressive pace. And, therefore, the former champion admits that he 'took his foot off the gas' in the fifth round, but criticized the coaches for still letting his opponent compete.

“I was surprised that the fight didn't stop. I told my corners that, from the fourth to the fifth round, the coaches would stop. They didn't do that and my coaches suggested I not take any risks because it would go all or nothing. But that's something I can't do, because it's my style. If I try to do it differently, I won't fight well”, said dos Anjos in an interview with 'The MMA Hour'.

It does not stop there. According to Dos Anjos, Moicano's coaches could have thrown in the towel to prevent his compatriot from taking more hits in the fifth round.

“It drives me crazy, because I see the guys boxing. The coaches throw in the towel, stop the fight. But we don't see that in MMA. I think because of the small gloves, the trainers think, 'He's going to throw a lucky punch and end the fight.' But I think coaches should be more attentive, get to know their fighters”, he concluded.
