Dana White praises Colby Covington's performance and avoids naming Dustin Poirier as his next opponent

UFC President says he enjoyed 'Caos' performance in the fight against Jorge Masvidal

Ultimate's president, Dana White, was pleased with the performance of Colby covington in the main fight of UFC 272, which took place last Saturday (5), in front of Jorge masvidal. In a post-event press conference, the president stated that he expected a high level from 'Chaos' in the fight against his former training partner.

“I expected exactly what happened. That's Colby's style, he makes you worry about takedowns. It was a great fight. He showed his power in Wresling and his cardio was better than I expected. (…) It doesn’t matter if you hate it, but you have to respect it. The guy continues to win his fights. He's tough. I respect the kid,” White said.

Next, Dana was asked about Covington's challenge to Dustin poirier – athlete from 'American Top Team' – for your next performance. He preferred not to fight and promised to talk to Colby before making any decision.

“We’ll see what he has planned for his sequel and decide which direction he wants to go in. Then, let’s think of something”, he concluded.

Covington is now recovering from the defeat against Kamaru Usman, in rematch at UFC 268, in November 2021. With the triumph, he is once again among the main names in the under-77kg division. Former interim welterweight champion (up to 77kg), Colby 'updated' his record to 17 positive results and three negative results in his career in mixed martial arts. He has been a professional since 2012 and has already beaten names like Tyron woodley, Robbie Lawler, Rafael dos Anjos e Demian Maia.
