Beaten by Adesanya at UFC 271, Whittaker suggests date and opponent for comeback in Ultimate

In the search for a trilogy against the current middleweight champion, the former title holder is already plotting a path to regain his status as a challenger

Defeated by Israel adesanya No. UFC 271, in an attempt to retake the UFC middleweight throne, Robert whittaker already has plans drawn up to return to challenger status. In the hunt for a trilogy against the current champion of the under-83,9kg group, the Australian suggested a date and opponent to try to redeem himself in the company.

“I’m going to face someone from the division. I don't know how many are left. Probably Marvin vettori. It needs to be well ranked. I'm on vacation now and, when I get back to the gym, I'm going to look for a fight in July or August”, stated the former champion of the category, in an excerpt published by 'Sportskeeda'.

If he makes a firm commitment against the Italian, Robert will face the number three in the ranking. Faced with a dangerous opponent, the Australian believes that a victory could bring him closer to Adesanya, as a shortcut.

"It would be amazing. This way, I can get my trilogy done by the end of the year. It’s good planning”, he concluded.

In the last meeting with Adesanya, in a repeat of a clash held in 2019, Robert showed progress, but was unable to overcome the champion. After five rounds, the Australian ended up beaten by points, with a unanimous decision from the judges.
