On the eve of Bellator 275, Gegard Mousasi expresses interest in a boxing fight with Anderson Silva

Involved in the organization's title fight, fighter says he is thinking about testing against 'Spider' in the 'noble art'

In a press conference at thehalf day', the veteran expressed interest in testing himself in boxing and aimed at Anderson Silva as one of its focuses.

“We were aiming for Anderson Silva because of Showtime boxing, and he was boxing. I wanted to do something different, but I don't know. I want to do it, so it's up to them. Only boxing, because (for MMA) he's a little old. In boxing, he is doing well. He beat a former champion, so, yes, it would be something different, or they would give me another fight – a real boxing fight – but I think Anderson is the biggest name,” said Mousasi.

The fight would have a facilitator, since the 'showtime' – a company that promotes superfights in boxing, is a broadcast partner of Bellator and, therefore, should not create major obstacles to a possible negotiation of the duel.

A former UFC standout, Mousasi has shined in Bellator since 2017. For the company run by Scott Coker, Gegard has fought six fights to date, winning on five occasions. In his record, the veteran has 48 triumphs, seven setbacks and two draws.

Recognized as one of the main names in the history of MMA, Anderson Silva switched to boxing in 2021 and, since then, won his two tests in the sport – against Júlio Cesar Chávez Jr and Tito Ortiz.
