"What's up guys. That blue number flashing up there is my oxygen. It's going up now, 91, 92. It was 82 a second ago because I just tried to go to the bathroom. But yes, I'm feeling good. I'm out of other things, there are no tubes in my body now. The only thing is this oxygen. My lung was definitely the most damaged part. They said 100% of my lungs are damaged, but they also said it's possible to recover 100%, and that's what will happen. It's going to take some time, we're going to start slow, but I'm still alive, man. I am here. And I'm grateful for that. The fact that I can fight to be 100% healthy, have this opportunity, is a blessing. When you were where I was and now you are where I am, you count everything as a blessing, even this horrible hospital food,” Leben wrote.

Chris Leben was one of the main figures in the first edition of The Ultimate Fighter, in 2005. The North American had a good start to his career in Ultimate, winning his first five fights in the octagon and being stopped only by Anderson Silva. His main moment in the organization was the surprising victory over Wanderlei Silva, in 2011, with a knockout just 27 seconds into the fight.

After four consecutive defeats between 2011 and 2013, Leben was released by Ultimate and announced his retirement from MMA. Five years later, in 2018, he returned to bare-knuckle boxing action, where he racked up three wins and just one setback before once again announcing his retirement.
