Adesanya regrets Ngannou's contractual situation and hopes the champion doesn't leave the UFC: 'It would be sad'

The middleweight leader came to the defense of the Cameroonian and revealed that he is rooting for his friend to remain fighting in the organization

In a contractual 'war' with the UFC, the heavyweight champion (up to 120,2kg) gained an important ally for this battle. In an interview with 'MMA Fighting', the middleweight leader (under 83,9kg) Israel adesanya came to his friend's defense and said he would be sad if the Cameroonian left the Ultimate squad.

“I don’t want him to leave the UFC. It would be sad. I feel like he's the guy, you know? Look at him. And he is one of the three kings. I just don't want him to leave. Maybe I'm being selfish. But I feel like I don't even want it to fit. Well, he wants to box, if he knows how to do it, he should box. He might figure something out with the UFC and the contract. They let (Conor) McGregor do it, so they can figure something out,” Adesanya said.

After winning yet another defense of his heavyweight belt, Ngannou suffered a serious injury to both knees, which should leave him out for a few months. Unsatisfied with the amount of scholarship received by the organization, the Cameroonian claimed that he will not step into the octagon again if he does not receive a salary increase.
