Julianna Pena gave his opinion on the recent comments of Amanda nunes, who claimed to have fought with injuries to two knees in the first meeting, valid for UFC 269, in December 2021. In an interview with 'ESPN', the bantamweight champion (up to 61,2kg.) stated that she has also experienced similar problems in her career in MMA.

“It’s a difficult situation for me to hear because I’ve come back from two devastating knee injuries. I understand you, girl. I know exactly how you're feeling. I've had this free time to rebuild my knees and get them back on track, and still be competing at the highest level there is. So, my knees are not an excuse for me to say that I shouldn’t have shown up in the fight,” highlighted Peña.
Still, Julianna believes that the 'Lione' is using the injury as an excuse for losing the belt. She highlighted that, if the Brazilian was clinically affected, she could choose to leave the show.
“If your knees are bad, don’t fight. No one is putting a gun to your head and making you do this. So if you want to say you lost because you got hurt, don't take the fight. Everything is fine. I’m sure we can find someone more than willing to step into that spot,” he concluded.
The two athletes are now preparing to lead the 30th edition of 'The Ultimate Fighter'. They command two teams distributed between competitors in the fly division (up to 52,1kg) and heavyweights (up to 120,2kg). At the end of the show, they face each other in the long-awaited rematch for the bantamweight belt.
