Heavyweight Geronimo Mondragon was scheduled to make his UFC debut against Gabriel Napao, in the third edition of UFC Rio, in October 2012. However, the fighter had to withdraw from the fight after being diagnosed with type B hepatitis.
According to MMAjunkie, Mondragon's almost year-long treatment reduced the virus count to zero, which means the gigantic Bahian's body is clean of hepatitis. He took tests in March and repeated them last month, confirming the positive result.
Mondragon hopes to debut in the UFC later this year, but has no set date or opponent yet. He hasn't fought since June 30, 2012, when he knocked out Marcio Tubarão at Rondonia Show Fight.
