Two of the biggest names in the history of kickboxing, Poatan and Adesanya have faced each other on two occasions in the past. And, in both fights, the Brazilian won – a knockout (2016) and a judge's decision (2017).

Four years later, the Nigerian finds himself as UFC middleweight champion, while Alex debuted in the organization in November 2021, beating Andreas Michailidis No. UFC 268.
