In March last year, Israel adesanya challenged Jan Blachowicz for the light heavyweight title (up to 93 kg), hoping to become the holder of two UFC belts, but ended up suffering the first defeat of his career. The setback, however, was not enough to end the Nigerian's goal.

During his appearance on the podcast “The MMA Hour”, on the “MMA Fighting” website, Eugene Bareman, main MMA trainer, Israel adesanya, assured that he and his pupil do not regret the attempt to win the light heavyweight belt and that the Nigerian became an even better fighter with the defeat to Blachowicz.

PUBLICITY:

“Absolutely not (we regret it). It was an opportunity that presented itself. The only thing I would regret, and I know Israel would regret it too, is if we hadn't taken advantage of the opportunity. We would be sitting here now wondering what could have been. In the end, what was the benefit of not accepting? Keep the cartel undefeated? Who cares about an undefeated record? The biggest benefit is that Israel is a much better fighter because of that loss. This happens, it's a common thing in fighting. Israel was able to turn around that fight and become much better than it would have been if it had just fought against Paulo Costa”, analyzed the coach.

Despite the first failed attempt, Bareman guarantees that the objective remains alive within Israel adesanya.

PUBLICITY:

“We set a goal and goals don’t disappear because you fail. How many times in history has there been a goal that no one achieved the first time? I believe the desire to chase the top division title is still in Israel's heart and mind. We will learn lessons from the first attempt and use it as an advantage in the second”, he guaranteed.
