Shortly after businessman Ali Abdelaziz revealed that Kamaru Usman underwent surgery to repair a ligament in his hand, Dana White took to social media to illustrate what happened. On his official Instagram profile, the president of Ultimate shared photos of the welterweight champion's (up to 77 kg) hand during the surgical procedure.

The surgery performed by Kamaru Usman is due to a fracture suffered by the Nigerian three weeks before the rematch against Colby covington for the welterweight belt in November. On that occasion, despite the injury, the champion defeated his rival in a unanimous decision by the judges to defend the division title for the fifth time.
According to businessman Ali Abdelaziz, Kamaru Usman intends to return to the octagon during International Fight Week, a traditional annual celebration organized by the UFC in Las Vegas in the middle of the year. O UFC 276, the event that ends the week, is scheduled for July 2nd, at the T-Mobile Arena.
Kamaru Usman seeks the sixth defense of the welterweight belt. With 15 victories in his first 15 fights in Ultimate, the Nigerian is one triumph away from equaling the historic mark of Anderson Silva, who won the first 16 fights he had in the organization.
