Hermansson attacks Strickland for wanting to 'kill someone' in a fight: 'A setback for the sport'

Swede believes that controversial speeches are just part of the North American's 'character construction'

Opponent of Sean Strickland in the main fight of UFC Las Vegas 47 next Saturday (5), Jack hermansson reacted to the North American's recent comments, who expressed a desire to 'kill someone' in an MMA fight. In an interview with 'MMA fighting', the Swede regretted the speech and sees his opponent's statements as a setback for the sport.

“When people in sport are saying these kinds of things, they’re not really helping our cause. I wish people would be a little more careful about this kind of thing. This doesn't work in our favor and is a setback for the sport, as we have to keep reminding people that most fighters don't think like him (Strickland). I hope it’s just a part of his character,” said Hermansson.

Asked if he feared for his life and physical integrity in the fight, Jack tried to deny any fear. The Swede also highlighted that he doesn't feel disrespected, but sees Strickland as just saying 'crazy things' and reveals he is ready to face him.

“I didn’t feel any fear about myself. I already thought he would be crazy and say some crazy things, but I don't feel disrespected. Which doesn't mean it's just 'chatter'. But I’m ready for whatever happens,” he concluded.
