At 'war' with the UFC and with his future within the organization undefined, the heavyweight champion (up to 120,2kg) Francis Ngannou did not rule out a possible retirement. In an interview with 'MMA fighting', the Cameroonian did not reject the possibility of hanging up his gloves due to his dispute with the company and said that, if that happens, he will be proud of everything he has built in his career.

“If this is the end, man, I'm happy. Where I come from, I've done a lot. Some people may not see this. But I did it, and I'm very happy with it. I'm proud of myself, man. That might be my ego, but I'm proud of myself and what I've achieved. I don't want all of this to take what I have or change me and my principles. My principle is still the same as the first day,” said Ngannou.

Heavyweight champion since March 2021, Francis successfully defended his title for the first time against his former training partner Cyryl Gane. After a difficult start, the Cameroonian turned the match around and defeated the Frenchman with a unanimous decision from the judges. The fighter has a record of 17 triumphs and three setbacks in professional MMA.
