Sales of UFC 162 PPV packages in the US are lower than expected

Event had 500 thousand units sold; number is well below the initial expectation of 800 thousand

and UFC 162 was a historic event for Ultimate in many aspects, it left something to be desired in terms of the number of package sales pay-per-view in the United States. The night of fights, which saw the defeat of Anderson Silva for Chris Weidman as the main fight, it reached 550 thousand packages sold.

Although the number of packages sold – in absolute numbers – is not low (UFC 161, for example, sold 150 thousand units), the result was well below what the organization expected. Before the event, president Dana White revealed the expectation of 800 PPV packages sold for the eleventh title defense. Anderson Silva.

UFC 162 was held on July 6th, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, in Las Vegas (USA). In the main fight of the night, Anderson Silva suffered his first defeat in the organization and lost the middleweight belt to the North American Chris Weidman. The rematch has already been scheduled for December 28th, in edition 168 of Ultimate. Certainly with the sales projection of pay-per-view much better.
