Absolute in Bellator heavyweight, Ryan Bader celebrates new chance to face Cheick Kongo

Valentin Moldavsky's executioner at Bellator 273, held this Saturday (29), in a fight to unify the heavyweight title (up to 120,2kg.), Ryan bader He doesn't hide his joy at already knowing who his next opponent will be. Upon learning that he will face Cheick Kongo in the next challenge, the veteran celebrated the repeat of the controversial clash held in 2019.

“We have unfinished business. I always wanted to do that fight again. He was talking so much shit that I put my finger in his eyes (reason for the interruption in 2019). There's a video that shows it was in the nose. (…) I like the fight and have always been asking for a reissue. Now, let’s do it”, said the athlete, in a press conference after the event.

This weekend, Bader climbed into the octagon to try to confirm the absolute top spot in the 120,2kg category. Facing the interim champion, the North American did not have an easy time, but, after five rounds, he was declared the winner in a unanimous decision.

With the result, Ryan unified the title and won again for the organization. In 2021, the veteran ended up being badly beaten by Corey anderson in commitment in the light heavyweight Grand Prix (up to 93kg.). Now, the North American returns to the winners' shelf.

At 46 years old, Kongo will have the third opportunity to become champion of the organization. The athlete is coming off a victory over Sergei Kharitonov, in August of last season.
