Willing to resume his position as group champion, Dillashaw also analyzed the challenge proposed by José Aldo. The Brazilian, who is enjoying a great moment in the bantamweight division, suggested a clash between former belt holders. The North American, however, revealed why he doesn't want to face Manauara at the moment.
“I think he challenged me after one of his recent fights, which is amazing. I have been following Aldo. I think everyone has been following Aldo. He has been like a godfather to all the lighter categories. Our time. He keeps doing what he’s doing, I’m going to get my belt back, and then that would really be amazing,” he concluded.
After the severe doping trial, TJ returned to the octagon in July 2021. On that occasion, the athlete faced Cory Sandhagen and won in a unanimous decision by the judges. As a result, Dillashaw suffered a knee injury and needed surgery. Since then, the fighter has continued his recovery and still doesn't know when he will be able to return to the Octagon.
