Former training partners. Linear and interim champion at the height of his career. Francis Ngannou e Ciryl Gane. For Dana White, one of the best heavyweight fights (up to 120,2kg) of all time.

PUBLICITY:

The story of the two athletes began in Paris, when the duo started training at the gym 'MMA Factory'. At the time, Ngannou was still trying to climb the Ultimate rankings and was already drawing attention for his vast knockout power over his opponents. Gane, in turn, excelled in Kickboxing and had not started his career in mixed martial arts.

The break between Francis and Ciryl happened in 2018, when the Cameroonian stopped at Stipe Miocic in his first attempt to win the organization's belt. As a result, he preferred to leave his team and migrate to 'Xtreme Couture', in the United States, turned his career around and became champion precisely in the rematch against the North American.

Instantly, Cyryl Gane had a great rise in his career and, despite having also made his debut in 2018, he only needed ten fights in his career to reach the straight belt. And, already in the mood for a possible meeting, images were leaked about sparring of the duo in the past, in which a large part of the MMA community saw a certain advantage of the Frenchman over the Cameroonian.

No UFC 270Now, everything will be decided. Who will take advantage of the unification of heavyweights (up to 120,2kg)?! The time has come to find out.

2) Francis Ngannou and knockout power

Considered, by many, as one of the most fearless fighters among all the competitors who have been through Ultimate, Ngannou has the power to knock out opponents with singular blows. And that's how the Cameroonian became the second athlete with the most knockouts (12) in the division in the history of the heavyweight division (120,2kg.).

Looking for his first title defense, Francis is the only South African heavyweight champion. To do this, he had to overcome Stipe Miocic in the second round, in March this year. The knockout phase is also good, as the linear belt holder has knocked out his last five opponents – including Cain Velazquez e junior gypsy. In his career, there are 16 positive results and three negative results.

3) The undefeated (and interim champion) Ciryl Gane

Gane is, in fact, a distinguished personality in the 120,2kg category. With mobility and strategy, the Frenchman has the characteristics of a 'sniper' and has had a meteoric rise. Based on kickboxing, he debuted in MMA in August 2018 and, in just over three years, he already has a great chance to enter the history of legendary champions.

With dreams of football and basketball frustrated as a teenager, Ciryl entered a Muay Thai gym in Paris, France, without any prospect of becoming an athlete in combat sports. And, being active, he managed to achieve a series of 13 victories in the sport, including superiority over the national champion at the time. Then, he tested himself in mixed mastial arts and, in three fights, he was on the biggest stage in the world. Gane has a 'perfect record' of ten victories – four of which were knockouts, three submissions and three fights in unanimous decision by the judges.

4) Trilogy between Deiveson and Moreno

In the second most important fight of the night, a trilogy between Brandon Moreno e Deiveson Figueiredo. In the initial opportunity, the Brazilian defended his title by drawing with the Mexican in an even fight. In a second encounter, it was Brandon's turn to get the better of him by submitting Deiveson in the third round.

A story of great turnaround. Since his appearance on 'The Ultimate Fighter 24' in May 2016, Brandon Moreno promised that he would be Ultimate champion in the future and made his dream come true by submitting Deiveson in the UFC 263, after a close fight in the first meeting which ended in a draw. Now, the Mexican wants to go further and knows that he needs to go through Figueiredo once again in search of building his legacy.

Deiveson Figueiredo has a great chance of regaining the flyweight belt (up to 56,7kg.). Former champion, the 'God of War' was unable to repeat the level of performance in the rematch against Moreno when he ended up submitted in the second round and, now, he has adapted his training in the United States and sharpened his game with his former rival Henry Cejudo at 'Fight Ready'.

5) 'Paraense Voador' and Brazilian duo on the preliminary card

Besides Deiveson Figueiredo, Michael Pereira, Raoni barcelos and Saimon Oliveira are also other Tupiniquin representatives distributed on the preliminary and main card of the night.

A great Brazilian personality at welterweight (up to 77kg), Pereira is looking for his fourth consecutive victory in the octagon, with an eye on an eventual entry into the rankings. The Brazilian is coming off triumphs over Zelim Imadaev, Kalinn Williams, Niko Price and now faces the Portuguese and debutant André Fialho.

On the main card, the dangerous Raoni barcelos returns to the scene. The Brazilian, who faces Victor Henry, seeks to win again after suffering his first defeat in the Octagon in June 2021, when he was defeated by Timur Valiev in the UFC Las Vegas 30. The setback interrupted an impressive run by the former RFA champion, who had won five consecutive victories in the UFC and nine in his career.

The first Brazilian to enter the octagon, Saimon Oliveira makes his debut in the organization against Tony Gravely. Discovered in the 'Contender Series' - a series in which Dana White hires new talents for the franchise -, the Brazilian bantamweight (up to 61,2kg) is based on Muay Thai and has a record of 18 triumphs and three setbacks.
