Held last night, in Las Vegas, in the United States, WEC-37 thrilled the audience at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino. In the main fight of the night, Carlson Gracie's student, the Mexican, Miguel Torres successfully defended the bantamweight title of the event by defeating the previously undefeated Manny Tapia, in the second round, by technical knockout.
Among the Brazilians, Wagney Fabiano made a good debut in the event, submitting former Shooto champion Akitoshi Tamura, with katagame, in the third round. Will Ribeiro Will Ribeiro had his four-fight winning streak interrupted against Brian Bowles, when he was submitted with a guillotine choke in the third round.
In the preliminary fights, Diego Nunes, who was making his WEC debut, dominated every round and defeated Cole Province in a unanimous decision by the judges, while Ricardo Barros ended up being defeated by Mark Munoz by technical knockout in the second round. Check out the results:
