The controversy with cody garbrandt at the promotional press conference UFC 269 didn't wake up Sean O'Malley the desire to face the former champion. Challenged by 'No Love', the young man explained his fear of sharing the Octagon with the former bantamweight leader (up to 61,2kg). For 'Sugar', there is more to lose than to gain in an eventual fight.

“After Cody was knocked out (by Kai Kara France, UFC 269), I was asked at the press conference: 'what do you have to say?'. I replied that I felt bad for him. He lost a lot of fights in a row and I have nothing negative to say about him. It is difficult. If I face him and win, I don't see much advantage at the moment. He's lost six of the last seven, or something like that. I don't think he's won since 2017,” said O'Malley, in an interview with 'Belive You Me'.

UFC's bet on the future of the bantamweight division, Sean doesn't ignore the possibility of being beaten by the former champion. Thus, the athlete analyzes the future in such a chance.

“If I lose to Cody, the guy who lost seven of his last eight fights and just got knocked out, it will bring a lot of negative pressure on me. I don’t think it’s realistic to think of it as my next fight”, he concluded.
