Protagonist of the first UFC event of the year next Saturday (15), when he faces Calvin kattar, Giga Chikadze showed interest in, if he wins the next challenge, replacing Max Holloway in the featherweight belt dispute (up to 65,7 kg) against Alexander Volkanovsky in March. The tendency, however, is for the vacancy to be replaced by Chang Sung Jung.

In an interview with the North American website “MMAFighting”, Chikadze commented on the supposed preference of Alexander Volkanovsky to face the “Korean zombie”. According to the Georgian, the champion chose “the easiest path”.
“I know the champion is trying to have an easy task. Probably the 'Korean zombie'. With all due respect, everyone in the top 10 is tough, but I believe I already beat one of the strongest guys in the division in my last fight (Edson Barboza) and now the easiest of all these guys is the 'Korean zombie', in my opinion. That's how I see the champion looking at this fight. He wants the easy way out,” Chikadze said.
Chikadze's opinion on the possible title fight between Alexander Volkanovsky and the Korean zombie It's nothing new. Last week, the Georgian had already reacted to an interaction between the champion and Chang Sung Jung. On that occasion, the champion responded.
“With all due respect, brother, but you are fighting for fifth place next week. See you soon,” wrote Volkanovski.
Giga Chikadze did not react well to Volkanovski's response, especially to the use of the word “respect”.
“This guy doesn't even know what he's talking about. There is no respect if you answer me like that. Do you know what respect is? It's what I deserve. I have seven wins in a row, I'm going to my eighth fight. Come on, I've deserved this opportunity for a long time. I'm not just anyone. I have a long history in martial arts. I didn't find your response respectful. My time is coming and will come. You can’t avoid me,” said the Georgian.
Lastly, Giga Chikadze pointed out a possible duel with Alexander Volkanovsky as the “easiest” in the entire top 10 featherweight division.
“Honestly, for me, Volkanovski is the easiest fight in the top 10. This guy can't even catch me when we're together. What is he going to do? Some guys have good submissions, others have good punches or technique. What does this guy have against me? Nothing”, concluded Chikadze.
Before thinking about fighting for the belt against Alexander Volkanovsky, Giga Chikadze comes into action this Saturday (15), when it faces Calvin kattar in the main fight of UFC Las Vegas 46, the first Ultimate event in 2022.
