With a streak of three wins, Robert whittaker got a new chance to compete for the title and, as a bonus, faces Israel adesanya in revenge in UFC 271, which takes place on February 12th. And to do so, he revealed that he was inspired by Jan Blachowicz as a 'mirror' to take advantage of the Nigerian.

“I looked at his last fights – and the loss to Blachowicz – with the intention of developing a plan to beat him. He showed the way to defeat Adesanya, but I don't have the same tools as Blachowicz, nor the 'Polish power'. I have to use what I have. And we saw that Adesanya is less dangerous on the ground. If I were a strategist, I would be writing down all the points that Blachowicz used to get that victory and I would do it my own way,” said Whittaker in an interview with 'MMA Junkie'.
Although he recognizes Adesanya's flaws, Robert preferred not to provoke the champion. At different times during the first fight, he stated that his defeat made him evolve for the new encounter.
“He is a phenomenal fighter and it is a difficult fight to predict what will happen. It's difficult to make a prediction based on the first fight and all I can say is that I'm working to try to execute the best game plan and get the job done,” he concluded.
Adesanya and Whittaker were in the main fight of the UFC 243, in October 2019. At the time, the New Zealander was the current champion of the division, however, he succumbed to the excellent performance of 'Stylebender', who knocked out Robert in the second round of the fight.
