The soap opera surrounding the rising welterweight star's next fight (up to 77 kg) Khamzat Shimaev seems to be very close to the end. The Russian naturalized Swede reached a verbal agreement with the Brazilian Gilbert Durinho for a fight on April 9th.

the duel between Gilbert Durinho e Khamzat Shimaev has been speculated since mid-November. This time, however, it was Chimaev himself who took to social media to reveal the agreement with the Brazilian, made through exchanges of messages.
In the first message shown in the image published by Chimaev, Durinho says: “closed, let’s do it in May”. Soon after, Chimaev accepts the challenge. In another message, Durinho changes his mind and suggests April 9th and Chimaev accepts again.
"Yes brother. Let’s go,” wrote Chimaev.
The fight has not yet been officially announced by the UFC, but with both parties reaching an agreement, the announcement should not take long.
Gilbert Durinho He is second in the welterweight rankings and is looking for a new chance to fight for the title. The Brazilian was defeated by the champion Kamaru Usman in February last year, but recovered with a victory over Stephen Thompson in July.
Eleventh in the ranking, Khamzat Shimaev became one of the UFC's biggest sensations in 2020, when he won three fights in a two-month window, two of which were just ten days apart. After another year away due to the consequences of Covid-19, the Russian-born Swedish citizen returned with everything and finished li jingliang in October 2021.
