MMA fighter dies during gym training

Philippe Mira fell ill while running on the treadmill. He was 26 years old and had four MMA fights

Fighter Philippe Mira, aged 26, passed away this Friday during training in Florianópolis. A black belt in jiu-jitsu and undefeated in MMA, he was running on the treadmill at the Top One gym when he felt unwell. When doctors arrived at the scene he had already died.

Philippe won several titles in jiu-jitsu. He was Brazilian champion, three times South American champion and five times South Brazilian champion. In addition to a third place in the world championship. In MMA, Mira participated in four fights between May 2011 and July 2012. He won two by knockout and two by submission.

In an official statement, the Top One gym stated that Mira had been attending the gym for three years, with up-to-date physical assessments and medical certificates.
