Without acting for over a year, Rafael dos Anjos challenges Tony Ferguson for a rematch in February

Willing to return to the Ultimate Octagon, Rafael dos Anjos wants to face an old acquaintance in his next performance. In your 'Twitter' official, the Brazilian challenged Tony Ferguson for a fight at a UFC event scheduled to take place on February 19th. He has not acted since November 2020, when he won Paul felder in the split decision.

"Tony Ferguson, do you have plans for February 19th? For my part, I have already given the green light to the UFC”, asked Rafael.

Soon after, Ferguson made a point of answering him, but preferred to leave the possibilities open. Using an image from the 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' franchise, the athlete joked and asked Dos Anjos to wait for a response.

“Let me check with my secretaries. Please wait,” Tony replied.

The fight would be a repeat of the first meeting between Rafael dos Anjos e Tony Ferguson, which took place in November 2016. On that occasion, the North American won via unanimous decision from the judges and the duel went on to win the 'Fight of the Night' award.

Former lightweight champion (up to 70,3kg.), Dos Anjos dealt with a series of injuries in 2021 and was unable to remain active in the Ultimate octagon. He even accepted the terms to face Islam makhachev, but saw the duel canceled on two occasions.

Ferguson, in turn, is going through the worst moment of his career and has lost three in a row. In their last meeting, the North American was dominated by Beneil Dariush and lost on points.
