The soap opera involving the contractual issue of Francis Ngannou with the UFC seems far from over. About to face Cyryl Gane for the unification of the heavyweight belts (up to 120,2 kg), the linear champion of the division is in the final stretch of his current relationship with the organization and the talks do not seem to be progressing well.

During her participation in the podcast “Throwing Down with Renee & Miesha”, led by the former UFC champion Miesha Tate and by reporter Renee Paquette, the businessman of Francis Ngannou, Marquel Martin spoke about the champion's situation and revealed that he hasn't spoken to the UFC since June.
“From the beginning we have always been, and remain, open to negotiating with the UFC. Even from my point of view and from his representation point of view, the UFC is the best MMA promotion in the game, in the business. However, what a lot of people don't want to come out and say is that it has to make sense to the customer. It has to make sense to Francis. Ultimately, I work for Francis and we spend a lot of time talking and trying to understand what this means for his future. We've already talked a lot with the UFC too, but, to be honest, I haven't heard from the UFC since June,” revealed Martin.
Finally, Marquel Martin hinted that he will fight for the value of his representative and left the decision of whether or not to renew the champion's contract in the hands of the UFC.
“Basically we all know that the UFC has a position of power, with merit. When we talk to representatives like me, of course I'm going to be biased and they won't like hearing what we have to say about Francis' future and his value. So, because of that, they decided not to get in touch anymore. I don’t know if they want to negotiate a contract before the current one ends or not, but it’s in their hands”, concluded the businessman.
