A war can bring scars to athletes in the Ultimate Octagon and in the battle between Dominick Cruz e Peter Munhoz on the preliminary card of UFC 269 it was no different. In an interview with the website 'MMA fighting', the former bantamweight champion stated that, despite winning the judges' decision, there was a 'blackout' in his memory in the fight against the Brazilian.

“The only thing I remembered was that we were exchanging punches and I missed one. I got up and then I didn't know I had been hit. I thought I had lost my balance. You don't know you're hurt. (…), in my head, I hadn’t received any punches and my body went on ‘autopilot,’” said Dominick.

It does not stop there. Cruz also reflected on the shocks suffered throughout his professional career and spoke about going into the fight willing to suffer all the consequences that could happen.

“It’s those moments when I get shaken in practice. When these guys come after me to kill me. It's when you discover who you are and are willing to die for it. You have a lot of time to think when you have so many injuries and so many ups and downs in your career. That was truly the greatest gift,” she concluded.
