From the left punch of Chris Weidman that touched his chin Anderson Silva and took the Brazilian to the ground, many hypotheses emerged to explain the defeat of the now former champion. The main one is that Anderson's mistake in his mental game cost him the title. Someone who doesn't seem to agree with this version is UFC president Dana White.

“A lot of people think Anderson lost to himself. This rematch is not just for Anderson Silva win the belt again, but to Chris Weidman prove that his achievement was real and not a coincidence”, declared the manager to the newspaper “New York Post”, after reinforcing that he does not want the reunion between Weidman and Spider to take place on the weekend of the Super Bowl (final of the American football ) in 2014.
