Boxing: Manny Pacquiao could face Ricky Hatton in 2008

Manny Pacquiao

That's right, dear fan of the noble art, Manny Pacquiao (45-3-2, 35 ko's) and Ricky Hatton (43-1, 31 ko's) could fight in 2008, according to the words of Freddie Roach, the Filipino's trainer. He also once again denied a fight between his pupil against Oscar De La Hoya. “I don't believe Oscar can get down to 147 pounds,” Roach said.

According to him, Hatton is as famous in his country as De La Hoya is in the USA, and as he is naturally a light welterweight, he would be much closer to Pacquiao's category. Roach also pointed to the importance of Pacquiao's fight against Juan Manuel Márquez, which will take place in March 2008. Losing that fight would mean losing the opportunity for a very lucrative fight to follow.

PUBLICITY:

Strange or not, Pacquiao vs. Hatton would be a fight between 2 of the best pound-for-pound fighters today, and that's what boxing needs, that's what the fans want. Apart from the fact that they are both fighters, which is always a sign of a busy, perhaps brutal fight, and one that the public will pay to see!
