Rashad Evans faces Brazilian Gabriel Checco in his return to MMA at Eagle FC

Former UFC champion returns to fight after more than three years of retirement and faces Brazilian on January 28th

After announcing that he would make his return to professional MMA in the next edition of Eagle FC, Rashad evans finally had his opponent defined. According to information from North American ESPN, the former UFC light heavyweight champion (up to 93 kg) will face Brazilian Gabriel Checco in the event promoted by Khabib Nurmagomedov on the 28th of January.

Rashad evans puts on the gloves again after more than three years of retirement. The former Ultimate champion last saw action in June 2018 when he was knocked out by Anthony Smith at UFC 225. “Suga” chose to hang up his gloves after suffering five consecutive defeats in the Octagon. Rashad's last victory came in November 2013 when he knocked out Chael Sonnen at UFC 167.

Known as “Zangief”, Gabriel Checco has a record of 12 wins, all by interruption, and five losses. The 35-year-old Gracie Humaitá Henderson athlete fought for almost six years in the RFA and LFA, but had his last fight for the XMMA, when he knocked out Simon Marini, in October this year.

Rashad evans won't be the only former UFC champion in action in the next edition of the Eagle Fighting Championship. Beyond, Renan Barao, former holder of the bantamweight belt (under 61,2 kg), faces Horacio Gutierrez in his first appearance since leaving Ultimate in November 2019, also after suffering five consecutive defeats.
