Chandler continues to disdain Do Bronx and suggests a rematch against Gaethje for the title in 2022

Hired by the UFC to increase the difficulties in the lightweight division (up to 70,3kg.), Michael chandler has a personal goal to live in the octagon in 2022. Victim of Charles of the Bronx in the current season, the North American is not looking for a specific rematch against the champion, but rather, with Justin gaethje. In an interview with 'MMAFighting's Fighter vs. writer', the Bellator legend spoke about the desire.

“I think that fight (against Gaethje) was a milestone for me, fighting and enjoying life. It was the first time I had my hand held by the referee and I didn't care who won. I love my life and I love that this confrontation was a part of it. There is no doubt that most people were entertained by the clash and would love to see me face Justin gaethje again. Maybe we’ll do it for the belt in 2022. We’ll see,” said Chandler.

The meeting between Michael and Gaethje took place at UFC 268, which represented one of Ultimate's biggest shows of the season. On that occasion, the lightweights shared the octagon with the dream of challenging Charles of the Bronx by category title.

In the three-round confrontation, the fighters put on a real show for the audience at Madison Square Garden, in New York. After 15 minutes of aggression and movement, Gaethje was declared the winner and practically stamped his passport to face the champion next season.

Defeated by Justin, Michael had his second stumble in three appearances with the Ultimate gloves. Today, the North American remains without a defined opponent in his attempt to get back on track to winning ways.
