New lightweight star (up to 70,3kg) of Ultimate, Charles of the Bronx could be the spark that Conor McGregor needed to return to the top of MMA. Challenged by the Irish after the UFC 269, the Brazilian was once again talked about, this time, by the main coach of 'Notório', John Kavanagh. In an interview with 'Severe MMA', the coach praised the champion and suggested that a possible clash between the pupil and the São Paulo native could serve to motivate the legend.

“Charles is the man today. He has what, ten wins in a row? Not much, right (laughs)? And finishing in most of these fights. He has a scary game. He is very solid on his feet, has good wrestling and his submissions are, if not the best, certainly among the best in UFC history, in any weight division,” said Kavanagh, in an excerpt translated by 'Combate'.

Do Bronx's name began to be discussed by McGregor and his team after the Brazilian's great performance against Dustin poirier, UFC 269. On that occasion, the Brazilian submitted the last tormentor of the 'Notório' and confirmed himself as absolute in the lightweight division.

For John, Charles has everything Conor needs to regain his motivation. Currently, the Irishman is going through the worst moment of his career, coming off two consecutive defeats and dealing with a serious injury to his left ankle.

“You can be sure that this fight would make Conor get up early every morning. It's the fight that gives you goosebumps and makes you train as hard as possible. If this is Conor's next fight, it would certainly be an honor and a pleasure to prepare him for it”, he concluded.

The favorite of the Tupiniquim fans, Do Bronx is experiencing the peak of his career in MMA. For the UFC, the champion has 10 consecutive victories, an impressive mark for one of the most dangerous categories in the sport.
