There was a lot of expectation surrounding the new update to the UFC's weight-for-pound rankings and it brought, without a doubt, the most significant change since the list was created by the organization. After being defeated to Chris Weidman last Saturday (6) and lose the middleweight belt to the North American, Anderson Silva is no longer the overall leader. The first place weight for weight is now occupied by Jon Jones.
After his first defeat in Ultimate, Anderson fell to third place. With the fall of the Spider, those who also benefited were Georges St Pierre. The Canadian, who previously occupied third place, is in second place. In addition to Jones, GSP and Silva, the following fighters complete the weight-by-weight list, in this order: José Aldo, Ben henderson, Cain Velazquez, Demetrious Johnson, Renan Barao, Dominick Cruz e Chris Weidman.
Additionally, other changes occurred within the weight divisions. Among the middleweights, which now have Weidman as champion and Spider as first place, Mark Muñoz overtook Costa Phillipou and Luke Rockhold, boosted by his victory over Tim Boetsch and now occupies sixth place. At featherweight, after beating Dennis Siver, Cubs Swanson is now fourth, leaving behind the “Korean zombie” – and next challenger for the belt – Jung Chang-Sung.
