The warning sign is more than yellow to Raphael Assunção. A highlight of the bantamweight division (up to 61,2kg.) in Ultimate for years, the Brazilian had his bad phase extended in UFC Las Vegas 45, held this Saturday (18). Opponent of Ricky Simon, the athlete was the victim of a perfect strategy from his opponent and ended up with a hard knockout in the second round.

With the stumble, Raphael saw his recent outlook become even more negative. The defeat marked the fourth consecutive setback for the Brazilian, who is at risk of joining the company's feared list of layoffs.

Victorious in the confrontation, Simón confirmed the good moment. In addition to being a highlight of the category, the North American officially reaches the group's ranking.

In an interview still in the Octagon, Ricky made a new challenge. At the microphone, the fighter asked for a confrontation against Sean O'Malley, bet on the future of the organization.

The fight

In the opening seconds, Assunção hit his opponent with a combination of punches and kicks. Simón responded with a direct shot, which rocked the Brazilian. After just over a minute, Ricky shortened his approach, went to Raphael's legs and managed to take the fight to the ground. The Brazilian tried to block his opponent's transitions, but the advantage belonged to the North American. Halfway through the round, Assunção struggled and managed to stay on his feet. Simón insisted on the strategy, grabbed the Tupiniquim and took him down again. On top, Ricky continued to control the actions, while the Brazilian tried to prevent the North American's advances. The stage ended with Assunção stopping his opponent and waiting for the end of the round.

In the second round, the Brazilian took the initiative with a kick to his opponent's waistline. The duel was studied, with the fighters waiting for the best moment to attack. Two minutes later, the American threw a series of punches, which made Raphael collapse. Noticing the Brazilian's condition, the referee interrupted the confrontation.
