The main event promoted by Ultimate in 2013 reached a historic milestone. UFC 162, which saw the victory of the new middleweight champion Chris Weidman about Anderson Silva as the main fight, it became the organization's third highest income of all time. The fight night, held last Saturday (6) in Las Vegas, raised 4,86 million dollars.

Considering the current dollar exchange rate, UFC 162's revenue reaches an incredible 11 million reais. To give you an idea, in absolute values, this number is practically equal to the sum of the two highest incomes in the history of Brazilian football – which together are equivalent to R$11,38 million. With a total audience of 12.399 people attending the MGM Grand Garden Arena, the event had tickets at an average price of $392.

Despite the already impressive numbers, Ultimate promoted two other editions whose box office earned it even more money: UFC 66, which featured a rematch between Chuck Lidell and Tito Ortiz, with US$5,39 million (R$12,18 million) in revenue and UFC 148, which featured a fight between Anderson Silva e Chael Sonnen as the main fight, with US$6,90 million (R$15,59 million).

At UFC 162, held last Saturday (6), Anderson Silva suffered his first defeat since January 2006. The Brazilian was knocked out by the American Chris Weidman in the second round of the fight valid for the middleweight belt.
