“If it's in our sport of MMA, you want to look at Chuck Liddell, or if it's in boxing, you pay attention to guys like Roy Jones Jr.. You can't be pretentious and do the simple thing at the same time. You can't be arrogant and keep your hands up at the same time. A 38-year-old is not going to be faster than a 29-year-old.”

Anderson and Sonnen have a history of rivalry that began in 2010, in the lead-up to their first clash. On that occasion, at UFC 117, the North American dominated the Brazilian for 23 minutes, but ended up caught in a triangle with less than two minutes remaining in the fight. The feud, fueled by Brazilian fans, only ended when Anderson knocked out Sonnen in the main fight of UFC 148, in July 2012.

During the week leading up to UFC 162, Sonnen and Anderson showed that their rivalry was overcome in a fun interview for the UFC Tonight program.

Anderson said it's part of his style, between us, he's always fought like this, when he won no one ever complained, but now everyone gets angry.

Hey guys, doesn't anyone notice anything?? It's obvious that this fight was bought, there's a lot of money going around, betting bags, etc... MARMELADE!! It's the only explanation for ANderson acting the way he did, provoking his opponent even during the break of the fight and literally giving his face to hit and get knocked out!! You could clearly notice the Brazilian's irritation, something he was being forced to do!!!

    • Fiorido said:

Arrogance and arrogance don't win fights, sir. anderson.
you became small when you underestimated your opponent.
All your fans know that you could win that fight, but you lost it because you were arrogant, arrogant and above all, you didn't respect the public that applauded you.
      Be humble...

but pride went to his head. I personally think it's very good, there's just one thing I didn't like, he should have been beaten more.hehehehe

Anderson Silva's defeat was humiliating and pathetic, he wasn't a fighter that day… Chris Weidman deserved the victory.

  5. Sergio said:

Anderson Silva had a winning career, full of records. But his stance in front of his opponents was never cool. For a long time he confused arrogance with psychological games, and many people got involved. There were those who compared him, just imagine, to Muhammad Ali.
This evening a certain Chris Weidman appeared in front of him, who didn't mind his antics, nor a ridiculous peck the day before, in the staring photo. He stayed focused and gave him a beating.
One should not support Brazilian athletes just because they are Brazilian. We have to be represented in some way. And that skunk never represented me. He embarrassed his fans and all the Brazilians who cheered for him.
There is no athlete, club or team that represents me. Except, of course, Palmeiras. Suck Anderson Silva, suck gambazada; Thanks, Chris Weidman!

ANDERSON SILVA, THIS SUNDAY, HE THOUGHT HE WAS UNBEATABLE, MOCKING AND WITHOUT RESPECT TOWARDS HIS OPPONENT, HE LACKED HUMILITY, WHAT HE DID IN THE FIRST AND SECOND ROUND WAS A CLOWN, HE LAUGHED, PROVED AND SAID HE WAS FALLING, AND THAT'S WHAT HAPPENED, WHO ANDERSON SILVA WAS HUMILIATED, WHO NOW WANTS TO STOP, BECAUSE IT WAS THE BIGGEST CLOWN OF HIS LIFE IN THE UFC, THERE IS NOBODY PERFECT AND UNBEATABLE IN LIFE... TO BE A CHAMPION, YOU FIRST HAVE TO HAVE RESPECT FOR YOUR OPPONENT AND THEN TRY TO BEAT HIM. WITHOUT PROVOKING HIM LIKE ANDERSON SILVA DID, LIFE IS LIKE THAT ANDERSON SILVA SOMETIMES YOU HAVE TO FALL TO LEARN THAT YOU ARE NOT A GOD, YOU ARE JUST A HUMAN BEING….
THEN HE GIVES AN INTERVIEW THAT HE TRAINED FOR 4 MONTHS FOR THIS FIGHT, THAT THIS IS HIS STYLE OF FIGHTING, HE ASSUMES THAT HE WAS MAKED AND WITHOUT RESPECT TOWARDS HIS OPPONENT, HE WAS CATCHED AND STILL LIED IN THE INTERVIEW, CREATES SHAME ON HIS FACE AND TELLS THE TRUTH, BECAUSE THE THE WORLD THAT WATCHED THE FIGHT KNOWS WHAT HAPPENED….

  24. jackson said:

This Sonnen is a loud-mouthed idiot, but this time I agree with him completely. Anderson Silva presented himself as unattainable, disrespectfully belittling his opponent and was surprised. On top of that, he gave a speech that certainly doesn't correspond to what he wants. I doubt anyone would want to retire after losing a fight in such an embarrassing way. He said what he said because he was still stunned by the defeat that he thought was impossible. I also don't believe in sold fights as some have said.

  25. joao rodrigues said:

If it weren't for SONEN, also arrogant, he would have already beaten ANDERSON in the fights they fought. ANDERSON IS THE SYMBOL OF “ARRAGING CIA and PREPOTENCE”, IT WAS ALREADY LIKE THIS AGAINST LYOTO MACHIDA, HE IS VERY “ANTIPATHIC”, HE CERTAINLY HAS A GUARANTEED SPACE AT GLOBO TO WORK WITH GALVÃO BUENO, AFTER ALL, NO ONE MORE THAN THIS, TO WELCOME ANOTHER PREPOTENT AND ARROGANT. FOR A LONG TIME, A. SILVA WAS ABOUT TO GIVE AN INTERVIEW, WANTING TO KNOW WHO IT'S FOR, WHAT QUESTIONS AND HOW MANY, HE DOESN'T TALK ABOUT A CERTAIN SUBJECT, ESPECIALLY HIS REMEDY AS ARROGANT AND PREPOTENT, FINALLY, THE GUY HAS NOTHING HUMILITY, SIMPLE... THEREFORE, FOR THE GOOD OF SPORT AND BRAZIL, IT'S BETTER THAT HE GOES AWAY, WHETHER HE RETIRES OR NOT, DOESN'T MATTER, HE HAS TO GO AWAY, PRETEND HE NEVER EXISTED, BECAUSE THE WORST ABOUT BEING ARROGANT AND PREPOTENT IS BEING A COWARD, SELLING THE FIGHT AND BEING SMART, TRYING TO HIDE THE TRUTH, IT'S BETTER TO SEEK THE GYPSY TO MUTUALLY CONSOLATE THEM IN THEIR MEDIOCRITIES...

There are no arguments against facts... the images are very clear... victory purchased. Just at a time when many Brazilians are struggling to moralize the country, this sports icon allows himself to be corrupted.
Now, what reason led Anderson Silva, a Brazilian icon, to give up the fight?
For me there are two answers:
1 – Money and power corrupts as it corrupts the dirty and filthy politicians of this country.
2 – Was he “forced” to give up the fight due to a threat to his life or that of his family? We know that behind these fights there are mafiosi who move fortunes and determine who wins and who loses, just like in football.
Sorry, but I don't know Anderson Silva, what he is like as a sportsman, as a person, as a husband, as a father, as a son, as a neighbor, as a citizen, but, after these images, his character is now questionable to say the least. I would love for some investigative reporter to get the truth about this fight!

For those who talk about premeditation in losing the fight, I reinforce this by asking why Anderson broke up with Corinthians – his favorite club – days before the fight? So as not to be banned by the fans after the fight?

  31. Mathias said:

Ridiculous,……this fight was paid for, he already got on a motorbike and didn't fall….it became formula 1, football all mafia all paid for…….disappointing….. But it's good for him with a full pocket, even I wanted to be there to catch him ……..

  32. donizete said:

Do you think this fight was real, only those who didn't see it believe it, because until the mercy punch the guy raised his hand.
Anderson offered his face, and when the punch hit Anderson, he fell without injury, and even afterwards his face was clean.
The opponent needs space, as he is an elegant young man, he has been armed. Does anyone agree!!!

  33. George said:

From what I saw yesterday, if Anderson got serious in the fight he would have knocked out Chris Weidman without any problem, a lot was said about this guy but yesterday I saw that he is a normal fighter

  34. ricardo da rosa silveira said:

I feel sorry for the Brazilians who idolize Anderson Silva, but I feel more sorry for him, even if he doesn't want to show it, he must have a big psychological problem because it's not because of the money that we know he's already very rich, but what about his fams? Stupid, stupid, arrogant, idiot, imbecile

  35. wilson said:

My grandmother used to say it. It comes from KNOWLEDGEERS IF IT'S NOT MUGGLERS. Pure marmalade people. you. Believe that, the punch didn't even almost stick, it was already agreed. And he was set to lose, do you know how much he took…1 million and a half.

  37. Gomes said:

The issue was not arrogance, but rather the age difference. The older ones know that one day someone will pull the rug out from under them and psychologically the older ones don't admit that they are the younger ones. It was like Saul and David. But wisdom speaks louder regarding Anderson's behavior, as he did not lower his head due to these comments that he would have to hear from you Brazilians. My motto is the following: “the enemy speaks the truth, and the friend puts his hand on his head and leaves silent”. Anderson Silva, you achieved many victories, congratulations, and if my father saw today you would be proud of your seal on the American, because there you demonstrated that you did not hate your enemy and would not lose your patience if you were defeated by him. Great Bahian Anderson Silva and his story is already recorded like that of many other athletes who have emerged and will emerge in Brazil and in countries that want to feel the same taste of victories in life. God bless you, fighter from Brazil, because in war we know who to take the right side of.

  38. Regis Dias said:

This Anderson Silva only showed what he really is, a ridiculous queer who was trapped in the closet, not that queers are ridiculous, but in Anderson's case it certainly was. But he didn't expect to take a cross like that on the chin and throw him on the floor... This guy was feeling great, pampered by everyone, even dancing on shows, wanting to act as an actor, etc... a hottie who should have been on BBB to talk of its successful past, because the present and future is already a decadence. It was very bad for him and for the gang who think this Dum is the guy.
Surely now you'll start dancing on Luciano Hulk's show or taking part in odd jobs on global soap operas... because fighting in MMA is over...

After watching some of Anderson Silva's fights I came to a conclusion: The UFC needs a myth, even if it is a fraud, watching it coldly the feeling is that the fighters already know who will lose and who will win, at UFC 117 Anderson lost all four rounds and in the fifth the opponent left his neck to be submitted, because the guy is more like a circus clown!

This fight was bad, I bet Spider's people put a lot of money into Cris at the betting shops, they are millionaires. Any layman saw that the spider beat Cris with his hands tied, using only his legs. This had nothing to do with arrogance or arrogance, it was a simple lack of character, honesty and respect, first towards himself, then towards his family and shamefully towards the Brazilian people who adored him.

It's very clear guys! He's tired and handed over the belt to retire, if he won he would have to hold the title for a while longer and challenge it again. He's already 38 years old and has a big bank account, he gave it to him.

Talking is easy. Speaking badly about someone without knowing them is even easier. Taking the shine off a person by accusing them, defaming them without knowing the truth can bring a lot of harm, often more than physical aggression. So before you even get involved in someone's life, look at your glass roof, which on many occasions is about to break beneath your feet. In the case of Anderson Silva, nothing is eternal, one day it had to happen and that day was that bad day for him, unfortunately.

  50. Leontius said:

We see how fame masks a person!! The behavior of a champion who knew how to respect his opponent and wanted to win without doing that Saturday joke was terrible. A shame for their fans. It seems to me that he forgot what it's like to fight, after he started being a dazzled celebrity!!!

  52. Carlos Roberto Santos said:

It wasn't the first time that Anderson was disrespectful to his opponent, but this time, he was duly punished for his lack of respect. Deep down, I think this was nothing more than an agreement between the athletes and Dana White. Anderson had already expressed his desire to return home, and perhaps this was the way they found to do so.

  53. alexander said:

What happened was the following, Anderson only did to the American what he did to all the other opponents, but he forgot one small detail. Once the American was full of gas, in other words he was a fool, of course every Brazilian likes a certain dose of debauchery in the fight when the Brazilian is one blow away from victory whoever says he isn't is being a hypocrite.

  54. New house said:

Until Saturday he was THE BEST!!! Now everyone criticizes, right? He did the same with Damien Maia, Sonnen among others and won... he passed the ruler on his Danna's list.

  55. Rogerio AF said:

I feel sorry for all you commentators, you didn't understand anything... what Anderson Silva did was protest against the system created by Dana Whyte, where he is all powerful and decides who wins, who loses, who fights, a turnover of 1 billion per UFC, where the best fighter in the world (Anderson Silva) takes 0,1% and the loser, who has the courage to face him takes 0,002%, Is this correct? It's obvious that he came in to lose, he didn't use his usual arrogance, what's worse, he asked to be knocked out, he showed in the final minutes of the first round that the kid had no way of defeating him and then he went in to lose, he slapped his face... .this, my colleagues, was the way, in my WRONG point of view, that he used to show Dana Whyte, his dissatisfaction with the orders and abuses of the boss (solely, above all, sports laws, for example) but he didn't think about the feeling of the Brazilians who always admired and supported him. It's a shame, but to do what, most Brazilian athletes who stand out in sport, especially in football, come from difficult childhoods, lack of study, imagine their training of character. I really feel sorry for him, because he had a huge fine in his contract, he couldn't just tell his "boss" to plant potatoes, he had to humiliate himself in front of the public to show his dissatisfaction.

These performances certainly make it difficult for UFC to become a serious sport. The athlete seeks the limit of his body for a goal. In sport there are records to be broken, teams to be beaten, medals and titles won with a lot of sweat. And this fight shows that UFC is nothing more than WWF with ketchup. Brazilians, companions, friends and family of the “Spider”, certainly, even denying it to the cameras, agree that he faltered. Not with sponsors and millions of dollars, but with the Brazilian people. That's why among the Silvas, I'm more W.

To be the best you first have to accept challenges, what about the fight with Jon Jones and the fight with Jorge San Píer, he fought with Vitor who wasn't prepared without confidence he didn't come from sequences of fights he was at a standstill, the money went to his head he accepted fights after evaluate your opponents. The UFC and its representatives have a problem and that is idealizing a fighter, because with the retirement of Chuck Lidell, and end culture, Anderson became a favorite, even the caches are different.

This Anderson is an asshole. One of the most beautiful principles of Martial Arts is respect for your opponent. Saying that this is a strategy to destabilize is already nonsense and if he is as good as he really claims to be he wouldn't need such a strategy. For me, this guy is an asshole who doesn't deserve the admiration of anyone passionate about MMA. Since the fight with Demian Maia, this Anderson is over for me. In addition to disrespecting his opponent, he disrespected the public, the sponsors, the owners of the event… he made a ridiculous impression. The worst thing that burned the Brazilian film. To finish, all that was left was for the referee to do some “funny things” too and it took another 1 minute. to stop the fight. Suck it’s Anderson grapes…

It's obvious that this fight was a setup. Dana White would already say: For the UFC, the best thing was Anderson Silva's defeat.
The guy loses the fight and wins 1,6 million dollars. That's a lot of money for those who lost the Belt.
In any case, as a lover of this sport, I am totally against whether there really was marmalade. But you only need to be there to find out what actually happened.
    About the fight:
Anyone who has watched Anderson Silva's fights knows that he likes to play with his opponents, but right at the beginning of the fight? I may be wrong, but nothing like this has ever happened.
    Example:
against Sonnen and his last opponent this didn't happen. I've seen him playing, but when the guy was inferior or when he was almost knocked out.
Then everyone draws their own conclusions.
