After the surprising defeat to Julianna Pena No. UFC 269, the former middleweight champion (up to 83,9kg) Michael Bisping came out in defense of the former bantamweight champion Amanda nunes. In a statement on his YouTube channel, the English veteran claimed that the Brazilian got tired during the fight and said that she would win in the event of a rematch against the 'Venezuelan Shrew'.

“In the first round, she beat Julianna. Amanda was the better fighter, took her down twice, controlled her in the clinch and on the ground. It was a good round for Amanda, but she got tired. She got tired, you could see that clearly. She also showed a little naivety, a little lack of experience, she didn't show the best fight IQ. What Nunes should have done was be a little more astute. She should have moved a little more, dodged, circled around the octagon, regained her balance,” said Bisping.

Even pointing out the former champion's mistakes during the fight, the 'Count' stated that the 'Lionea' will regain her bantamweight belt if a second duel takes place.

“Amanda will probably win in the rematch. I'm not taking credit for what Julianna did. I honestly believe Amanda will win in the rematch. I think Amanda will be 100% ready to fight Julianna. You can't deny her heart, the body of work that Amanda has had, the skill that she has. You can't deny any of this. She made some mistakes on Saturday. She was caught in a moment, she wanted to fight fire with fire, but she ran out of gas and got tired. You can blame Covid-19 or whatever you want, but it has been defeated. Julianna was the better fighter that night. Amanda will want this fight back, the belt back, to have her respect back, so, make no mistake, I think that’s what we’ll see next”, concluded Michael.
