Charles do Bronx gains three positions and surpasses Jon Jones in the UFC weight-for-pound ranking

New champion, Juliana Peña gained seven positions in the women's pound-for-pound ranking, while Amanda lost the lead

A submission over Dustin Poirier in the main fight of UFC 269, last Saturday (11), yielded the Charles of the Bronx the first defense of the lightweight belt (up to 70,3 kg). Furthermore, it made the Brazilian “take the elevator” in the organization’s men’s weight-for-pound ranking. Previously in eighth place, the lightweight champion switched positions with Dustin poirier in the new update of the top 15, reaching fifth place and surpassing Max Holloway e Jon Jones on the way. In front of Charles appear only Francis Ngannou, Israel adesanya, Alexander Volkanovsky e Kamaru Usman, which tops the list.

The women's weight-for-weight ranking also underwent important changes. Amanda nunes, which led the list, fell to third place after the surprising defeat to Julianna Peña, being surpassed by Rose namajunas e Valentina Shevchenko, new leader. New bantamweight champion (up to 61,2 kg), Julianna Pena climbed seven positions and appears in fourth, just behind Amanda nunes, who still holds the organization's featherweight belt (up to 65,7 kg).

In the men's bantamweight division, the big news is the entry of Sean O'Malley, who debuts in the top 15 of the division, occupying thirteenth place after knocking out Raulian Paiva last Saturday. Another change in the division is due to the former champion Dominick Cruz, which rose two positions, reaching seventh place, by defeating Pedro Munhoz. The Brazilian, in turn, lost two positions and appears in tenth, being overtaken by Marlon moraes e Marlon Vera.

At featherweight, the only change was made by Josh Emmet, who gained a position with the victory over Dan Ige and is now in sixth place.

In light weight, Dustin poirier was surpassed by Justin gaethje, the next challenger for the Charles of the Bronx and new first place in the ranking among candidates for the title.

In medium weights (up to 83,9 kg), André Sergipano returned to the top 15 with the submission victory over Eryk Anders. The Brazilian occupies thirteenth place.

PUBLICITY:

Finally, in heavy weights (up to 120,2 kg), Tai tuivasa, which was not ranked, came to occupy eleventh place after knocking out Brazilian Augusto Sakai, which fell to twelfth position.
