“This entire journey was in vain. My family and I dedicated a lot to this opportunity and, in these moments, I have learned a lot about myself. It sucks, man. I worked and sacrificed a lot. I really thought I would be world champion”, lamented Poirier.

Visibly sad, Dustin preferred not to project his future in Ultimate and stated that he wants to rest after a 'marathon' of big fights in 2021. He was even close to crying and had to hold back his emotion at times.

“I don't want to think about my next move yet. It was a crazy year, with three fights (2x Conor McGregor and 1x Charles of the Bronx) big ones. I'm fine, healthy and not used to losing, but I try to make the best of it. I'm trying to stay here at the press conference and not cry around you, but it's difficult”, he concluded.
