Charles of the Bronx finished Dustin poirier and defended the lightweight belt for the first time in the main fight of UFC 269, last Saturday (11) and you already know who will be the next challenger for your position: Justin gaethje. Before facing Poirier, Charles of the Bronx was the target of constant criticism and provocation from Gaethje. After the Brazilian's victory in UFC 269, the two met backstage at the event in a friendly and respectful atmosphere.

At the press conference after defending the belt, Charles of the Bronx he minimized any kind of personal rivalry with his next opponent and assured that he doesn't care what others say.

“I really don’t care what other people say. I come here and do it. I don't spend time on the internet talking about what others think or don't think. I come here and do it. I'm the champion and I proved it once again. It doesn’t matter who’s next, I’ll be here ready”, said the champion.

The victory over Dustin poirier was the tenth consecutive Charles of the Bronx in the lightweight division. The champion now has 15 wins via submission in the octagon, being the absolute record holder in this regard within the organization.
