Julianna Peña talks about possible rematch with Amanda Nunes: 'we can do it next week'

The new bantamweight champion indicated that she needs some time off, but assured that she will accept the rematch whenever the UFC wants

In the co-main fight of UFC 269, held last Saturday (11), Julianna Pena shocked the world and ended Amanda nunes in the second round, becoming the new UFC bantamweight champion (up to 61,2 kg) in one of the biggest “zebras” in the organization’s history.

In her first press conference as owner of the belt, shortly after the event, the “Venezuelan Fox” was willing to grant the Brazilian an immediate rematch, but stated that she needed some vacation time with her daughter.

“We can do it next week, I'm free next month, in two months, whenever they want to do it, I'm ready. To be fair, I've been at this camp for a year, I believe my daughter deserves a little time with her mother, a vacation. After that, definitely. If she wants a rematch, we'll do a rematch. I always did what the organization wanted. They aim, I shoot. Let’s talk about this later, I just want to enjoy the moment now”, said the new champion.

With the victory over Amanda nunes in the co-main fight of UFC 196, Julianna Pena became the fifth champion in the history of the Ultimate women's bantamweight division. Before the Brazilian, the belt belonged to Miesha Tate, Holly holm e Ronda Rousey, inaugural champion of the category.
