Dana White is, in fact, impressed with the performance of Charles of the Bronx No. UFC 269 last Saturday (11). In a post-event press interview, the Ultimate leader praised the resilience of the lightweight champion (up to 70,3kg) to overcome Dustin poirier in the main fight of the night.

“I always knew he was a tough guy. He had some adversities along the way – just like Dustin poirier -, but it was like I said at the press conference, they are two hard-working guys who had to fight to reach the top. Dustin is a tough guy and difficult to beat, as well as having a lot of experience. It was a great night for (Charles of the Bronx) Oliveira”, stated Dana.
The story of Do Bronx and Poirier combines the perseverance and evolution of the two fighters during their stints in the UFC. When the athletes met in the octagon, in the main fight of edition number 269, the North American managed to stand out in the first round, but was dominated by Charles' grappling and ended up submitting with a rear naked choke in the third round.
With the result, Charles defended his lightweight belt for the first time and now has a record of 32 triumphs, eight setbacks and one unsuccessful fight. Dustin, in turn, suffered his seventh negative result, while he also has another 28 positives.
