In an interview with “MMA on SiriusXM”, led by RJ Clifford and Anthony Smith, interestingly the fighter responsible for his last career defeat, Rashad evans stated that he feels motivated just by competing at a high level.
“I'm not crazy, I know what this is all about. That doesn't take away the meaning. Sometimes we have the thought that if we're not chasing the belt, we're not chasing anything. But for me, competing is my reward. Doing it the way I want is all I need, to be honest. I just see life in a different way. I know what I'm capable of when I'm at my best and I want to have that feeling again,” said the former champion.
Rashad evans arrived in the UFC after winning the second edition of The Ultimate Fighter, in 2005. “Suga” remained undefeated in the organization until winning the light heavyweight title with a victory over Forrest griffin, in 2008, but ended up defeated in his first title defense, against Lyoto Machida, in 2009. Three years later, he had another opportunity to fight for the belt, but was defeated by Jon Jones. In 2018, Rashad evans chose to hang up his gloves after a string of five defeats in the Octagon, the last of which against Anthony Smith at UFC 225.
