During his appearance on the podcast “The MMA Hour”, on the website “MMA Fighting”, John Kavanagh, main coach of the former lightweight (up to 70,3 kg) and featherweight (up to 65,7 kg) champion, listed some potential opponents for McGregor's return, which should take place in mid-2022.

“I'll be honest, the trilogy with Nate diaz It's very, very tempting. It's a fight that gives me nightmares. The guy (Diaz) doesn't stop moving forward. It doesn't matter if it's three or five rounds. It's an intriguing fight. This is definitely very interesting. We also have Tony Ferguson. It was talked about a lot, but it never happened. Tony still has, I believe, a lot to offer the game. He is an unorthodox striker and grappler. I think the wedding would be fun for the fans. So, you know, any of these guys who fight for legacy”, analyzed the SBG Ireland coach.

In addition to the trilogy against Diaz and the duel against Ferguson, Kavanagh mentioned potential clashes against names that move the top of the lightweight division, even against the winner of the division's next title fight, between Charles of the Bronx e Dustin poirier, which takes place this Saturday (11).

“But look, this division is murderous. You know, Dan Hooker is there. The fight against Islam (Makhachev) would also be incredible for obvious reasons. And we also have someone to win this belt (Charles of the Bronx ou Dustin poirier). Any of these names. I’m just excited to see Conor back,” concluded Kavanagh.
