Frustrated with the setback against his compatriot, Aldo was dissatisfied and claimed to have 'won' the fight. Despite being a former champion, the fact that he had a negative streak of three defeats meant that the manauara entered the fight with Marlon Vera pressured by a possible risk of dismissal.
