“Tonight Justin Watson stepped on my neck and face, kicked me repeatedly to the floor and pulled my hair against his fists and the corner of the bed. I managed to escape for a second and ran into the hallway (naked) screaming for my life as he tried to pull me back by my hair. Luckily someone from the hotel heard my screams and came to rescue me. I’m stuck in Texas, not knowing where he is and scared,” Montaño said.

Afterwards, the 32-year-old fighter stated that she was in the hospital receiving care and said she was grateful for the experience she has in MMA.

“I'm in the hospital and I'm very lucky to have the technique and strength I have to be able to defend myself,” wrote the fighter.

Nicco Montaño became the first flyweight champion in UFC history in 2017, after winning The Ultimate Fighter. After a serious health problem that prevented her from defending her title against Valentina Shevchenko, the athlete ended up losing the belt.

Montaño has since seen action in 2019 when she was defeated by Julianna Pena and had four fights canceled due to injuries, Covid-19 and failure to make the weight cut, which led to her being fired from the organization in August of this year.
