“That’s one of the reasons why I’m here (fighting to this day). I have never had so many defeats in two years of my life. And every time I see an athlete retire undefeated, I question, 'Are you undefeated or didn't you challenge yourself as much as you could have?' And if you did, what would it be like on the other side?” said Cruz in an interview with 'The MMA Hour'.

Despite not mentioning names, Dominick still reinforces that the evolution of the sport and respective divisions makes a fighter review his concepts and even manage to surpass himself in his career.

“Are you undefeated or could you just stay a little longer to advance to the next level? So, recover from a possible defeat and see what your next margin for evolution is. It's not just about winning, losing and being perfect. Nothing in life is that. You cannot avoid defeat, avoid pain, or dodge everything. The question is: when it happens, what are you going to do with it? Are you just going to give up and say I'm retired, or are you going to come back, overcome yourself and see what can happen?”, he concluded.
