José Aldo admits he considered retirement and projects a 'new focus' if he beats Rob Font at UFC Vegas 44

MMA legend, Brazilian says that training with the Brazilian Navy lit a 'fire' for him to pursue his career

And, in an interview with the 'Trocação Franca' podcast, he reports that he thought about 'hanging up his gloves', but revealed that training in boxing with the Brazilian Navy gave him a new boost in his career.

“I was already thinking about retiring, I had that in mind. But after the Petr (Yan) fight, the pandemic, etc.... those boys (from the Brazilian Navy) lit a fire inside me, brother. I really want to fight these days. I've been in the Navy for almost two years, since the pandemic (start of COVID-19) and I feel like a boy again, learning every day, changing my fighting style. This renewed me to fight again, it lit the fire I needed”, said the Brazilian legend.

Asked about his future, José Aldo reveals interest in a fight against TJ Dillashaw, if you pass through Rob font. According to him, the North American can wait for the resolution of the controversial rematch between aljamain sterling e Petr yan and, therefore, will be available for one fight.

“Rob is another step forward and, by defeating him on December 4th, we will be a little closer to the belt. I don't know what it will be like due to Sterling's injury, that could be a problem. I believe he will fight Petr, I don't know if (TJ) Dillashaw will wait that long, so maybe a fight between Dillashaw and me could (determine) the next opponent”, he concluded.
