In celebration of the 14th anniversary of the SUPER FIGHTS, we continue to present gifts to those most responsible for the site's success: you, the reader. Following the initial content schedule, the time has come to remember 14 knockouts that marked an era, not only in MMA, but also in boxing.

1) Historic 'Spider' Kick

The scenario was one of total rivalry and the confrontation was sold as 'The Fight of the Century'. On one side, Anderson Silva, living legend and UFC middleweight champion. On the other, the 'Phenomenon', Vitor belfort, feared for his explosiveness and ability to erase rivals.

With two Brazilians sharing the Octagon, the expectation was for a tough pair, but the genius of 'Spider' spoke louder. The São Paulo native needed just over 3 minutes to connect a shot of rare perfection to his rival's chin, who collapsed. The image of the scene began to appear on sports materials with Anderson's name.

The fact that Lyoto Machida He has refined techniques and high-level karate, which few question. The athlete, however, made history in Ultimate by carrying out a brutal collision against a legend of the sport. The year 2011 was definitely of great importance for Brazil within the UFC. After shows Anderson Silva e Lyoto Machida in the first half of that season, junior gypsy closed the list with a flourish.

After collecting seven victims with resounding knockouts in the heavyweight division (up to 120,2kg), the Santa Catarina native reached his fight for the group's belt. Ahead, the dangerous Cain Velazquez. The Brazilian, however, once again stood out with his high-level boxing and, in just over a minute, he defeated the then champion, taking home the category belt.

Known for his aggressiveness inside the octagon, Edson Barboza was expanded by a specific fight, held in 2012. After almost 10 years, the Friburguense's confrontation against Terry emo He is still remembered by many sports fans.

The clash took place at UFC 142, in January of that season. After two well-fought rounds, it was in the third stage that Barboza would shock. One of the saddest knockouts for Brazilian MMA fans is also one of the most emblematic for the sport in general. In 2013, Anderson Silva reigned as the UFC's top name.

Technical, agile and forceful, 'Spider' was chosen to face the, until then, little known, Chris Weidman. In the most anticipated fight of that season, the Brazilian seemed to have control of the situation, however, all it took was a distraction for the North American to find the legend's chin and, with a cross, make one of the best in history disappear. With the result, Weidman ended one of the most successful trajectories in sport.

6) Holm: the woman who changed history

Although she was not a dominant champion within the UFC, Holly holm is inserted in the history of MMA as the woman who changed the direction of bantamweight (up to 61,2kg.). Former world boxing champion, the 'Shepherd's Daughter' charted an impeccable trajectory in mixed martial arts and tried to repeat the success achieved in the 'noble art'.

After nine unbeaten fights, two in the UFC, it was time to share the octagon against a legend: the undefeated Ronda Rousey. Facing the 2015 champion, known for submitting all her opponents, Holm needed to find a way to nullify her opponent's main weapon, and she did. With top-notch boxing, Holly shocked the world by running over her opponent. To reach the belt, the former boxer scored a devastating knockout in the second round.

UFC bantamweight champion (up to 61,2kg) since 2016, Amanda nunes reached the top of MMA and began to consolidate, with each performance, her name as one of the best athletes in the history of the sport. In 2018, the Bahian woman had something that may have marked her absolute consecration.

Chosen as one of the stars of UFC 232, the Brazilian needed to once again prove her evolution in the sport and attempted the unprecedented feat of becoming the first woman to win two belts in different categories. Against the feared Cyborg, the 'Lioness' ran over. Without giving the legend a chance, the Bahian achieved a brutal knockout in the first round and won her second title. The athlete, even today, remains at the top of both divisions.

8) Masvidal and the lightning knockout

What can you do in five seconds? Many can find simple things, but Jorge masvidal went beyond.

Famous for his fights in backyards in the United States, the athlete rose to stardom in the UFC with a historic knockout that broke the record for the fastest outcome. The opponent was Ben Askren, a decorated wrestler and former Bellator and ONE Championship champion. A standout fight in 2019, the confrontation was awaited due to the provocation between the combatants. In the duel itself, there was no time for conversation. As soon as the bell sounded, 'Jesus das Ruas' landed a clean flying knee to his rival's face, who immediately fell unconscious.

In the confrontation that would end one of the biggest rivalries in recent UFC history, Israel adesanya He once again proved why he has been a respected name in the organization. October 2020 was marked as the month in which MMA fans witnessed one of the most beautiful knockouts in the history of the sport. The protagonist of the action doesn't get to be a star, hold a belt or be a sports millionaire.

The event was the 'modest' UFC Fight Island 5 and the unlikely hero was Joaquin buckley. Facing the promising Impa Kasanganay, the athlete was the star of the show and connected with a very rare round kick, causing his opponent to collapse in slow motion. The run over earned the fighter bonuses, in addition to the 'Knockout of the Year' trophy.

Famous for his high-level striking, the North American had the opportunity to win the welterweight belt for the second time in a row, but ended up running into a Kamaru Usman merciless and blunt.

Against the Nigerian, who continues to collect victims in the division, Jorge had no chance. Victim of the group champion's evolution, Masvidal didn't even notice his opponent's powerful hand touching his face and erasing it in the second round. After leaving Ultimate and realizing his dream of performing in the 'noble art', Anderson Silva has brought joy to his fans with convincing boxing performances. After surprising and beating Julio Cesar Chaves Jr., in March, Silva took on the challenge of facing Tito Ortiz, Ultimate legend.

In a clash held on the same card as 'Belfort x Holyfield', 'Spider' shone as in the past. After putting on a show of dodges, the former UFC champion needed just a few blows to settle the score against Ortiz, who collapsed after a well-aimed cross applied by Anderson.
