Out of action for almost two years, Joanna Jedrzejczyk appears to be willing to resume her MMA career. Former UFC strawweight champion (up to 52,1 kg), the Polish woman admitted her interest in reliving one of the best fights in the history of the sport. In an interview with 'South China Morning Post', the athlete spoke about her desire to promote a rematch against Weili Zhang.

“(Zhang) should be next, if Rose (Namajunas) is not ready to fight in March or April. I think she (the champion) wants to rest, because she had a great performance (in the UFC 268) and it was a very tough five-round fight. I bet she wants to enjoy her time as a champion, human. Let’s see,” said Joanna.

With Namajunas out indefinitely, Weili would then be the priority for Jedrzejczyk. The Polish woman, however, recently admitted that Carla Esparza could be a name of interest.

At 34 years old, Joanna is considered one of the biggest names in the history of women's strawweight. Today, the fighter has 20 professional fights in MMA, with 16 wins and four losses.

Due to her inactivity, Jedrzejczyk, who occupied a prominent place in the group, ended up being removed from the ranking. A victory over an elite opponent could see the former champion regain prestige within the group.
