“I still need to make a decision. I need to talk to my wife. First, because she wants me to stop (fighting). I'm 44 years old, so she wants me to stop and we're living well in Brazil and accomplishing a lot of things,” said Werdum.

The Brazilian athlete spoke about his personal business to reinforce doubts about the continuity of his athletic career.

“So I have my meat boutique, I also have a clothing brand (Werdum Sports), I have a YouTube channel and I am an ambassador for the PFL here in Brazil. So I have a lot of things going on. It needs to be worth it, for me to stop everything and fight again. Because I would need to return to the USA, because my team (Kings MMA) is in Los Angeles (USA)”, revealed the former heavyweight champion.

The fighter from Rio Grande do Sul was willing to return to the PFL, but made it clear that he will not commit to a return if he does not have a good proposal in hand.

“Yes, yes, I think I will come back. I need a good proposal, where I know that I have to return to the United States with Rafael Cordeiro and be there for two months focused. If the proposal is worth it, I will definitely fight again. If not, I'll continue doing what I do”, concluded 'Vai Cavalo'.

UFC heavyweight champion between 2015 and 2016, Werdum was hired by the PFL at the beginning of 2021 as a highlight of the heavyweight tournament. However, in his new home, the Brazilian did not do well. In his debut fight, a loss to Renan Problema was reversed to 'No Contest' after much confusion. The fighter has an MMA record of 24 wins, nine setbacks and one draw.
